The name Utkala for Orissa was used because of the superior artistic skills of Oriyas.

OSA Newsletter Distribution: March-April issue of the newsletter will be distributed by US mail and all other issues electronically. Errors in the Newsletter: Nobody is perfect. There might be errors in the contents of this newsletter. If you trace any error, please let us know at bigyanidas@orissasociety.org. Thanks. Errors in OSA Directory: We have found many errors in OSA 2003 directory. At places spouse names are added to unmarried people. Some people have some other people's residential addresses. The errors might be due to various reasons. However, once we find any error, it becomes our duty to correct it. Members are therefore requested to check their information in OSA 2003 directory and report any discrepancy to OSA secretary/treasurer and the membership committee. Are you in OSA mailing list? It has come to our attention that some members do not get any OSA announcements. If you are a member and you don't get any announcements, please contact Dr Joy Gopal Mohanty (jgmohanty@yahoo.com). If you know some members who do not get OSA announcements through email, please inform them to contact Dr Joy Gopal Mohanty. Upcoming Events of Interest: Chapter Events:

chapter will celebrate Bisuva Sankranti on April 24. Check chapter news
for chapter related information. Oriya Festivals in April, May and June: Bisuba
Sankranti (April 13), Chandana Purnima (May 4), Savitri Brata (May 18),
Raja Sankranti (June 15). Teachers Refresher Course in May, 2004: During the last week of May, 2004, Teachers Refresher Course will be organized in the Keonjhar district of Orissa by Jagannath Organization for Global Awareness (JOGA).
